You have selected to download the free version. I encourage you to purchase the full version if you enjoy the free version!

You will need MS Access 97 or higher in order to edit the Database.

We have been trying to make the installation of our product as easy as possible. We are using "include" files to achieve this result. On a very small percentage of server "include" files do not work right. I have only run into this once. If you have problems with include files it is relatively easy to fix.

Email technical support is provided for only setup issues, and comments only!

Installation of "The Classified Ad System":
Installing our ad system should be easy on almost any server or hosting provider. There are just a few simple requirements. First you must have read/write permission enabled for your database. You hosting provider should be able to set this up for you. Second they must be running NT 4.0 or Win2000. That is really about it.

There is only 1 file that you need to edit in order to make The Classified Ad System run. Open the file "Config.inc" in this file you should see some directions. You will need to configure the lines between "Change info Below" to "Change info Above." The first option is a variable called "intdeletedate" set the number after this variable to the number of days you wish for Ads to remain on your system. Secondly you will need to set the variable called "database" to the full path of your database. Your hosting provider will need to tell you what this is. You can also try a "map path" command, but it often does not work, that is why it is not even included in the code.

Next you can configure the default.asp page to be what ever you want it to be. If you have an HTML page all you have to do is insert one line of code
<!-- #INCLUDE FILE="classified.asp" --> where ever you want the Ads to appear on the page. You will want to make sure that you have a button for each option of the default page. Maintain the links EXACTLY as they are, or otherwise your ad system will not function properly. Play around with it and don't be afraid to mess it up (as long as you keep you downloaded zip file). If you do mess it up just unzip the "default.asp" file again. If you can't figure out what you are doing wrong, please email support@rockfordarea.com and we will help you figure it out. Also there are 3 lines at the top of default.asp that need to be in any HTML document you create.

This program will run on Personal Web Server. PWS is a free mini web server that will act as a real web server (well for about 4 people). PWS can be found on your Win95 and higher CDROMS.

The bad word filter is tricky. It will appear that it is posting the ad, but it actually will not if any bad words are found. This is done out of a users suggestion. The bad word filter can filter for complete matched and partial matches. Remember that you have to edit this via MSAccess!

This should do it. If you have problems that you are unable to figure out please contact support@rockfordarea.com.

The full version includes a very handy admin menu. You will get very sick of updating your database real quickly. The full version is only $50. If you ask me nice enough us might even give you a discount, but we will see.

Thanks,
Rockfordarea.com

* You are more than welcome to modify any part of this program, just remember that you can not sell, give, borrow, this program to anyone.
* Modification is very easy if you have Frontpage 2000, as this is what we created this app with. Also any other editing will work, even editing with notepad.
* If you get any weird message you cannot figure out please email support@rockfordarea.com for assistance.
* If you have any requests please email sales@rockfordarea.com and we will see what we can do for you.
